The COVID-19 pandemic had a profound impact on global travel. As the virus spread, international travel almost ceased, prompting countries to enforce stringent entry protocols and measures to prevent further outbreaks. Among these measures, Thailand introduced quarantine mandates and the Thailand Pass. However, as the situation began to improve, Thailand started relaxing its travel restrictions and quarantine requirements, signaling a resurgence in tourism. By 2023, many global travelers are eagerly looking for information on the protocols and guidelines for visiting Thailand.

It’s essential for prospective visitors to check the list of vaccines and medications. Ideally, consult with a healthcare provider at least a month before the journey to ensure all necessary shots or medications are administered. If there’s a need to locate a specific vaccine or medicine, one can always refer to the Find a Clinic page. Some of the non-vaccine-preventable diseases to be wary of include Typhoid and Cholera, with the latter being present, albeit rare, in Thailand. Travelers at an increased risk or those visiting regions with active transmission should consider getting vaccinated.

For a clearer perspective on Thailand’s COVID-19 vaccine regulations:

Approved vaccines include CoronaVac (Sinovac), where two doses are required, with the second dose administered 2-4 weeks after the first.
Entry and exit requirements, quarantine details, COVID-19 testing procedures, and vaccine information are crucial. As of May 17, 2023, the CDC’s mandate for non-U.S. citizens to show vaccination proof for traveling to the U.S. has been lifted.
Some essential travel facts for Thailand include:
Passport validity recommendation: 6 months from the date of entry.
Blank passport pages: At least one for every stamp.
Tourist visa: Not required for stays under 30 days.
Vaccination: Yellow fever vaccination may be necessary if coming from specific countries with yellow fever outbreaks.
Currency restrictions: None for both entry and exit.
All international travelers, including returning Thai nationals and foreign residents aged 18 and above, are advised to get vaccinated for COVID-19 with a vaccine recognized by either Thailand’s Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) or the World Health Organisation (WHO) at least 14 days prior to their scheduled travel.
From January 9 to January 31, 2023, travelers (aged 18 and above) arriving in Thailand need to furnish proof of vaccination, evidence of recovery from COVID in the preceding six months, or a vaccine-exemption letter from a physician, verifying medical reasons for not getting the COVID vaccine.
